Welcome to the SWPAG web page. The SWPAG functions in a resource and
advisory capacity to assist in the development, coordination, training
and evaluation of activities related to the social work professional
discipline in the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS). Its purpose and
mission is to provide sound information and recommendations through the
PAC to the Chief Health Services Professional Officer on those discipline
specific and related matters that impact social workers in the USPHS.
We achieve our mission by accomplishing the following objectives:
-
Identifying issues of interest and facilitating the resolution of
concerns as they relate to uniformed social workers
-
Assessing the professional development needs of social work officers
and developing strategies and opportunities to meet them
-
Promoting all aspects of social work throughout the OPDIVS and agency
programs of the USPHS
-
Recognizing the professional excellence, leadership and officership
of one social worker at the annual USPHS Scientific and Training
Symposium
