MLSPAG Subcommittees

Awards

The Awards Committee annually solicits nominations for the MLSPAG Junior Officer of the Year Award and subsequently selects and presents the award to the recipient.

ByLaws

The By-Laws Committee annually reviews the MLSPAG By-Laws and makes recommendations to amend the By-Laws to the full MLSPAG. The By-Laws Committee shall formally review the By-Laws every third year and submit them to the CPO and HS PAC for re-chartering.

Communication

Responsible for dissemination of MLSPAG related information; maintaining MLSPAG listserv; updating the MLSPAG section of the HSO Website.

Professional Development

The Professional Development Committee is responsible for identifying educational, deployment, and mentoring opportunities. Additionally, the Commissioned Corps Transformation process will be reviewed for specific MLS related needs/opportunities and presented for discussion to the full MLSPAG.

Membership

The Membership Committee is responsible for tracking MLSPAG members and the election process for Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary. Additionally, this committee shall track and maintain a list of MLSs in the Commissioned Corps.

Policy/Legislation

Responsible for providing MLSPAG with Clinical Laboratory Amendment (CLIA) updates, pending and approved legislation effecting Medical Laboratory Scientist such as education reimbursement and professional association changes.

Recruitment and retention

To stay informed of recruitment and retention needs for HSO health administrators by seeking guidance from MLSPAG, the HS PAC and the Office of Commissioned Corps Operation Division of Recruitment. To function in a resource and advisory role to recruit, promote and retain all HSO Medical Laboratory Scientist. To identify the recruitment and retention strategies and encourage involvement of all MLSPAG voting and non-voting HSO Medical Laboratory Scientist.
