Welcome to the home page for Health Services Officers (HSOs).  HSOs are one of eleven professional categories of the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS).  HSOs contribute vitally to the health of the Nation and are an invaluable resource to the Office of the Surgeon General, the PHS, other governmental agencies, and the American public.  

The HSO motto --“Strength Through Diversity”-- attests to the wide range of skills and experience possessed by this multi-disciplinary team of officers and to their pride and commitment to serving in the Commissioned Corps.

• Nominations are now accepted for The 2010 Joseph Garcia Jr. Award, The 2010 Stanley J. Kissel Award, and the HS PAC Responder of the Year Award.  The deadline for submission is the close of business of March 19, 2010, except for the HS PAC Responder of the Year Award which is November 5, 2010.  Incomplete nomination packets will not be considered.
